That all people with eating problems have one thing in common--they do not use the body's signals of hunger and fullness to determine when and how much to eat.

 

Do I have a healthy relationship with food?

  1. I usually eat when I am hungry and quit when I am satisfied.
  2. When eating, sometimes I just naturally lose interest in the food, and know that I am full, so quit eating.
  3. I typically choose foods because I believe I will enjoy them.
  4. I realize that my body can naturally manage my weight quite successfully without me interfering.
  5. My food selections are based on what I want, tempered by a bit of scientific knowledge.
  6. I trust that if I eat when hungry and stop when satisfied, my body will successfully manage my weight.
  7. When I get overfull on occasion I do not get concerned about my weight.
  8. Thoughts about food, weight and dieting take up a minimal amount of time in my life.
  9. I do not compare my food intake to others because I realize that we are all different.
  10. It is easy for me to leave sweets because I know I can have them anytime I want them.
  11. I might notice the calorie, carb or fat content, but I rarely if ever use them to make food selections.
  12. I have realized that there is nothing particularly exciting, reassuring or life altering about monitoring my weight.
